The Dandolo palazzo, a hotel since 1822. Closed for restoration since 2023, reopening under Four Seasons in August 2026.

The island was Venice's asylum for women until 1992, then a hotel. Six hectares, reached only by private boat.

Nolinski Venezia - Evok Collection
Venice's 1929 stock exchange, Umberto Bellotto's chimera worked into the facade. The entrance is still the original door marked Borsa.

Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel
A fire in 1845 destroyed the Grand Canal facade. The gap it left is the garden, and the orangery is the restaurant.

The ballroom is the Ridotto, Europe's first legal casino, 1638 to 1774. Piero Lissoni reworked the interiors around it.

Breakfast in the Marco Polo ballroom, under 18th-century frescoes attributed to Tiepolo's pupils. Minutes from San Marco, crowds included.

Tchaikovsky worked on his Fourth Symphony here in December 1877. The suite named for him is a tribute, not his room.

Ca' di Dio - VRetreats, an SLH Hotel
Founded 1272 as a hospice for Holy Land pilgrims, rebuilt to Sansovino's design, interiors by Patricia Urquiola (2021).

The 1686 oratory where Vivaldi taught music is now the bar. Two thousand family antiques crowd the rest.

Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal
Doge Marco Foscarini was born here in 1696 and later moved to the Carmini. Not every room faces the Grand Canal.

Ca' Bonfadini Historic Experience
The Vivante family bought the palazzo in 1815 and commissioned Carlo Bevilacqua's frescoes. A recent restoration found some behind plasterboard.

Sina Centurion Palace
An 1892 neo-Gothic palazzo by Edoardo Trigomi Mattei, redesigned inside in 2009. The interiors owe the facade nothing.

Ca' Molin on the Zattere, headquarters of the Adriatica shipping line until the company closed. The restaurant still carries the name.

Seventeenth-century palazzo, once a painting school, run by the Romanelli family since 1965. Still three stars, still a garden.

Hotel Palazzo Stern
Rebuilt 1909 to 1912 for Ernesta Stern, a Paris salon hostess, from salvaged medieval stone. The Gothic is largely hers.

Ca' Pisani Hotel
A late-14th-century palazzo furnished in original 1930s Deco. Its restaurant, La Rivista, is named for a Fortunato Depero painting.
